Three days of high-energy, hands-on professional development dedicated to building your local association activism, influence, and success by engaging more members in campaigns, negotiations, political action, and the high-profile classroom and education issues that define education in the 21st century.

Your cost includes two nights’ accommodations at the Hilton DoubleTree Hotel, some meals, and Summer Training Series program.  Commuter rate also includes some meals. Additional details will be posted on this page when registration opens on May 1.

Association representatives, leaders, and activists: Do you want POWER and EQUITY? If you answered YES, you are invited to an upbeat, highly interactive training opportunity that will prepare you to WIN any challenge that your local association may face in membership organizing, school funding, negotiations, communications, political action, school quality issues, and other education-related concerns.

Emerging Leaders Academy Generation IX  
Part 1: July 30–August 2
Unions like your local and MSEA need the strength of committed and well-prepared leaders. For members at a crossroads of association advocacy and leadership development, the Emerging Leaders Academy can help define the next steps as activists.

Emerging Leaders is MSEA’s leadership training program for members eager to make a difference in association activities through committee positions, political action, elected office, and more. Build your individual and group skills, and your confidence, while learning about the association, networking, and making new friends.

English Language Learners (ELL)
July 31 - August 2

Earn one Continuing Professional Development credit while learning effective strategies to support and teach English language learners. Participants will increase their knowledge about differentiated teaching strategies for English language learners; explore culture and equity issues; learn how cultural beliefs, values, and behaviors impact our ELL practice; identify classroom conditions for optimal language learning; and bridge theory to practice. Class size is limited. Approved for one Continuing Professional Development credit by MSDE. So You Want to Be a Trainer? Let’s Get Busy!
July 31 - August 2

Acquire the skills and confidence in presenting, facilitating, and training. Become familiar with adult learning styles and learn how to apply them with both large and small groups. Participants will be able to identify, select, and use appropriate tools when training.
