Answers to Your Questions about the MSEA Convention

I’m not a delegate. Can I attend the MSEA Convention? 
Absolutely! Admission is free and registration takes place at the door. Mark your calendar for October 20-21, 2017.

What are the convention hours? 
Workshops are tentatively scheduled from 8:30 – 1:30 on Friday and 8:30 – 11:45 on Saturday. Exhibit halls are open Friday: 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. and Saturday: 8:00 a.m. – 1:0 p.m.

Is it really free? 
Yes!

What activities can I attend as a non-delegate?
Visit all of the exhibits located throughout the first floor of the convention center, including professional education exhibits, the annual health fair, and the all-member trade show. You can attend any of the professional development workshops. And don’t miss the president's reception on Thursday night at 7:30 p.m. in the Convention Center Ballroom!

How do I attend the workshops? 
Show your MSEA membership ID card or simply sign in at the non-delegate registration booth inside the Convention Center. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. both days.

Are the workshops free, too?
Yes, workshops are free too.

Can I get CEUs and/or certificates of completion for attending workshops? 
Contact your district’s certification/staff development office for information about credit.

How can I become a delegate to the convention and participate in MSEA’s business and policymaking meetings at a future convention? 
Contact your local association to learn more about becoming a delegate candidate in your next local election.

What is the Spring Representative Assembly?
The Spring RA occurs in even-numbered years and typically focuses on passing MSEA's two-year budget and making recommendations for statewide elections. Delegates to the Fall Representative Assembly are also delegates to the Spring Representative Assembly. In 2018, the Spring RA will be held on April 14 in Ellicott City.
